Posey turned 1 year old on, March 10th, 2010!!!! Mom and Dad drove up from NC that day! We ate at Culver's for dinner and had some frozen custard for dessert! That was Posey's birthday treat! The big celebration was not until Saturday! We had decided that we would have a big bash with just cake and ice cream! That way everyone could celebrate with us! Aunt Kelly, Mia, Jackson and Eli came up on Thursday! We had Posey open her birthday presents from family and friends from NC. She sure got some cute stuff! :) Friday was filled with party preparations! Mom and Kelly made cupcakes and Aunt Mandy came over and helped me clean and make Posey magnets! Gramma came and helped too! Later, Uncle Dave and Rhett and Jordan came over! Rhett took some pictures of Mia, Jackson, and Eli! They had a rock and roll photo shoot!
Well, the big day came! PARTY DAY!! We finished getting everything cleaned and all the decorations put up! WE made one last trip to Wal-Mart to get ice cream and such. We made the tea and the lemonade and set out the cupcakes and the snacks! Gramma and Grandma Pelsue came a little early to deliver their cupcakes. Everything was ready and it was time for friends to show up! People started coming in and pretty soon, the house was full and buzzing with people and kiddos! Everyone was talking and hanging out and eating cupcakes! I'll have to say that it was a first for us to have so many kids in our house at one time! Talk about crazy! It was great!
We put Posey in her highchair and got ready for her cake! I have to be honest, this was one of those things that i was most looking forward to once i had a kid! I always wondered what my kid would do with their cake on their first birthday. That might sound crazy, but I was so excited about it....and she did not disappoint!! It was slow starting and then she got her hands INto it! Pretty soon she had a pink icing beard and pink icing gloves!!!! It was fantastic! She got into the cake a little bit and then lost steam (or interest, i don't know). She got all cleaned up and we came back downstairs and hung out for a bit and opened the presents that people brought. Family stayed for a while and we hung out through the evening.
I have to say that it was a whirlwind but I had such a blast!!!!! I'm pretty sure Posey had fun too! :) I sure wouldn't have been able to pull it off without my mom and Kel! It was such a treat to have them there and also to be able to visit at the party! I came into the kitchen at one point and realized I hadn't even thought about replenishing the cupcakes or the drinks or anything! They had it all taken care of! Thanks, Mom!!! Thanks, Kel! Thanks, Mandy! Thanks, Jeannie! Thanks, Nancy! Everybody did so much to help and I am so thankful!
